The air column
One air column. The whole family.
Breezaphone isn't a sample of a flute or a brass patch — it's the physics. A single digital-waveguide bore, a column of air closed through a lossy reflection, solved in real time. Breath is the energy; one nonlinear valve, morphed by EXCITE, becomes every aerophone.
Flute
An edge tone: air splitting over a lip. The valve is gentle and rounded, so the cycle stays pure and breathy — flute and recorder, the soft open end of the family.
Reed
A nonlinear reed that slams shut against the pressure wave. The knee saturates — and that's the woody bite, the squawk, the multiphonic edge of clarinet and sax.
Brass
A steep lip-reed: more negative resistance, more harmonics, more drive. It blooms bright and overblows readily — push breath past the threshold and it jumps a clean octave.
The morph is the easy part — keeping it in tune is the hard part. The loop delay, the loss filter, and the reed's reactance all pull the pitch, so Breezaphone corrects each one analytically. From the softest flute to a full overblow, every note lands dead on the cent.

Breezaphone is a full member of the Ephemera family — its first aerophone and its singing lead — playable on its own and as a live strip in the studio, with the tuning, presets, and performance controls you'd expect.
The lead the mix was missing
Every other Ephemera voice strikes, plucks, bows, self-oscillates, grains, or swarms. None of them sings a sustained line. Breezaphone holds, swells, and bends — the melodic lead over the top of the mix.

Strings, membranes, circuits, grains — the family had every excitation but breath. Breezaphone is the first wind instrument: air is the energy, and the note only speaks while you blow.
Played with breath
A breath ribbon drives dynamics in real time — soft to overblown — over mono, legato, and poly with glide. A full amp envelope shapes the attack and release of every note.

In tune across the morph
The reed's reactance and the bore's losses both pull the pitch as you move EXCITE and breath. Breezaphone corrects each analytically, so it stays dead in tune from flute to a full overblow.
