Ephemera instrument

Pollen turns sound into a living granular field.

Scrub a source, widen the spray, freeze the read head, and let thousands of grains settle into pads, dust, rhythm, and noise-bloom.

How it works

1. Choose a source.Start from airy noise or brittle rustle textures.
2. Spray grains.Density, duration, jitter, filter spread, and pitch define the cloud.
3. Perform the field.LFOs, mod routes, FX, presets, and the studio strip keep the texture playable.

Grain cloud

A CPU carrier schedules precise grains with density normalization, pitch jitter, pan spread, envelopes, and filter motion.

Living surface

The canvas mirrors the active grains as a rising pollen field, with the waveform showing source position, spray, and freeze.

Swarm layer

An optional Layer-2 bridge adds a dense residual texture when SharedArrayBuffer and GPU support are available.

Studio ready

Pollen appears as a first-class Ephemera Studio instrument, with the same source-bridge path as the rest of the family.

FAQ

Does Pollen need WebGPU?

No. The core grain instrument runs without WebGPU. The swarm layer is additive and falls back cleanly.

Can I use my own sounds?

The launch build starts with curated sources and the engine path already supports decoded audio buffers for future source import.

Is this a DAW plugin?

This page is the browser instrument. It shares Ephemera's instrument language without exposing internal project details.
